Art of Discovery | Avis Car Rental

Following the successful launch of the ‘Art of Discovery’ campaign, leading car rental company Avis New Zealand is seeking new New Zealand and Australian based contemporary artists to appear in the next phase of the campaign as it rolls out across the next 12 months.

Focussed on inspiring customer journeys through a driver’s impression, the ‘Art of Discovery’ campaign sees contemporary artists set out on road trips in Avis rental cars across New Zealand and Australia in pursuit of inspiration.

The artists’ work will then feature in an outdoor advertising campaign across New Zealand and Australia. The artwork will also be displayed at an exhibition and auction hosted at the end of the year, with all proceeds donated to Avis Budget Group’s charity partners Cure Kids NZ and R U OK?.

The campaign has thus far seen the work of six artists featured, including Rachel Hirabayashi who used driving and solitude as her inspiration throughout her travels across New Zealand, as well as Jacob Spokes who travelled to Lightning Ridge in north-western New South Wales to retrace his father’s footsteps as a miner.

Tom Mooney, Managing Director Avis Budget Group Pacific said: “With the Art of Discovery we’re aiming to create a departure from historic rental car campaigns, offering a fresh, unique perspective for Avis customers to view iconic locations across New Zealand and Australia.”

“We’re looking forward to working with the next series of talented New Zealand and Australian artists and call on any aspiring artists who want to use their love of our beautiful landscapes to inspire journeys.”

The campaign will continue to be rolled out over the next year with more artwork featuring in advertising across digital, print and out-of-home platforms.
