Debit cards are not accepted.

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid driver's license in the driver's name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a driver's license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

If a fine or charge is sent to us because you haven’t paid a charge or complied with the law, we will take payment for:

• Our administration fee of EUR 43.05 for each fine or charge issued to cover our costs of dealing with the fine or charge; and
• the actual amount of the fine or charge imposed if we have to pay it.

Keeping the vehicle interior cleanPlease note the following: 

• You are not permitted to smoke in your rental vehicle. If we believe anyone has smoked in the vehicle during the rental period, a specialist cleaning charge will apply (EUR 307.50).
• If the interior of the vehicle is especially muddy, dirty, stained, or smelly, and our standard cleaning procedure will not fix it, you will be charged a specialist cleaning charge of up to EUR 369.00

If you have an accident

If you do not complete a required accident report form, or we find out the accident report form contains any significant missing or incorrect information, then you will be charged an accident processing fee of EUR 73.80. 

Additional drivers must be approved and specified on the Rental Agreement Form. You must not let anyone else drive the vehicle. 

All additional drivers must meet our age, driving licence and ID requirements (additional driver surcharges may also apply).

If we agree to additional drivers, any fees and surcharges will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form. 

You will be responsible for all costs whether they're down to you or your additional drivers. It is your responsibility to make sure all additional drivers read the terms set out in the Rental Agreement carefully before they drive the vehicle.

We charge a fee for every Additional Driver we allow to drive the vehicle. The price is EUR 12.30 per day, per driver to a maximum of EUR 61.50.

Minimum driver age restrictions 
When you book, you'll be told if there are any minimum age restrictions for the vehicle you request. If you're not sure, please check your booking confirmation email or call our customer support team.

You need to be at least 25 years old to hire and drive most of our vehicles. 

Young driver surcharge
If you or any of your drivers are under 25 when you pick up the vehicle, you will each have to pay a young driver surcharge. The cost of a young driver surcharge will be built into the price confirmed at booking stage. If you add an additional driver onto the rental at pick up, you may be charged a young driver surcharge (you will be asked to agree to this and is likely to be EUR 11.07 per day, EUR 61.50 maximum per rental). 

Maximum driver age restrictions 
When you book, you'll be told if there are any maximum age restrictions for the vehicle you request. If you're not sure, please check your booking confirmation email or call the reservations team. 

In most cases there is no maximum driver age restriction. If you are renting with one of our affiliates listed in 1. (Rental Provider) there may be a maximum driver age set at either 75 or 80 years of age for insurance reasons.

Non-cancellation fee: 65.00 EUR

RETURN STATION
If the car is returned to a station other than agreed - outside the same city - at time of Check Out and noted in the Rental Agreement, an amended return fee is being charged for the additional fleet disposition cost.

PROLONGATION
It is mandatory for the customer to report any lease extension at least 24 hours before the agreed termination of the lease. The extension must be done personally by representation of the renter and the customer must receive a written permission for such extension, while being obliged to pay the full rent including the extension to the renter. Any non-extension during the rental will be considered as unauthorized use of a foreign vehicle with all the legal consequences and applied fees from Avis.

KEYBOX
When returning the vehicle in such a way that the vehicle keys are returned to the keybox, the damage and condition of the vehicle is checked only without the tenant's presence and for any new damage found without the tentant's presence is tenant responsible and may be subject for charge from Avis.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FINES
The customer is responsible for all charges related to the operation of the vehicle during the rental period (fines for traffic offenses, parking fees, fees for using toll roads) You are responsible for all traffic offenses including parking offenses and speeding in the period of time when the vehicle is in your possession. In addition to the fine, you will be charged an administrative fee of EUR 25.00 exc VAT. The method of handling and accounting of traffic offenses depends on the type of penalty and the country where the offense occurred. You are also responsible for paying the fees for the use of toll roads.

FUEL POLICY
You will be given several options in relation to the amount of fuel, with which you will have to return the vehicle. These will be explained to you at the beginning of your rental.

You should return the vehicle with the agreed amount of fuel and ensure that the correct type of fuel is fueled. If you do not do so, you will be charged additional costs.

Fuel charges: EUR 2.00 per litre exc VAT

ID AND DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMEMTS
The vehicle will only be handovered if the identity document is verified on an authorized device. Accepted ID is a passport. ID card only in case of the client's nationality from the European Union. The lease can only be made after verification of the personal documents submitted by the client upon signing the Personal Data Processing Form. If the authorized verification system denies the verification of documents, we reserve the right not to provide the lease.

We require:

• Driving license
• Passport
• ID card (only required if Passport is not available)
• Residence permit, if it is a second document

A valid driver's licence from the country of residence is required. International driving licence permit is required for licences in non-roman alphabet. Renter and driver must have held a valid driver's licence for at least one year. In any case, we require two documents. The first must be a driving license and the other may be either a passport or a national id or a residence permit for a foreign person We only accept a national ID instead of a passport if the client is an EU citizen.

Meet late arrival is on request basis only

We offer a "Meet and Greet" service outside of office opening hours.

This service is on request only and needs to be confirmed before rental with our reservation office (info@avis.sk). Charge of EUR 61.50/123.00 is applied (based on day/time of your request).

All reservations must include the following information:

> Drivers name, surname
> Date and place of birth
> Personal or business address
> Driving license number, date and place of issue or expiration date

If the car's bodywork gets damaged, the most you'll pay towards repairs covered by the Collision Damage Waiver is the damage excess. This cover is only valid if you stick to the terms of the rental agreement. Changing the length of your rental can affect how many kilometres you can drive for free. It can also affect how much you will pay for each additional kilometre.

Local Charges
This section shows charges that you'll pay at the counter because of where you're picking your car up, who's driving, and where you go during your rental.
This section doesn't show other over-the-counter costs, such as charges for fuel, child seats or additional services. You'll find details of other charges in other sections of these terms and conditions.
You are responsible for any charges and fines, including tolls, congestion charges, speeding tickets and parking or traffic fines.
After your rental
If you've incurred any charges, such as speeding tickets or unpaid congestion charges, the car hire company will try to contact you when the authorities ask them who was driving. This could be months after your rental - and you'll have to pay the company's administration fee as well as the original charge.
Please note: to help you compare different deals, we've standardised the names of these charges. The names that your car hire company uses might be slightly different.
One-Way Rentals
If you arrange to pick the car up in one location and drop it off in another, the car hire company may charge a one-way fee to cover the cost of returning the car to the original location.
Prior notification is required for all one-way rentals. If you drop the car off at a location other than the one originally agreed; you will incur a "Penalty" from the car hire company.
The cost of this service will be confirmed after you have made the booking and we have confirmed with the car company that this would be allowed.
Returning vehicle to Keybox Other Fees
If any of the following apply, the counter staff will charge you extra when you pick your car up - or when you drop it off:
Cleaning Fee
The car hire company will charge you if the car needs more than a reasonable amount of cleaning after your rental.
Unfortunately, the car hire company won't tell us how much this charge is. The counter staff will confirm whether this charge applies to you.

If you want to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location, an additional fee will be payable.

If you asked for a one-way rental when you booked, the fee will be included in your total rental price. 

If you didn’t ask for a one-way rental when you booked and you want to return the vehicle to a different location in the same country, you can expect pay an additional fee of between EUR 123.00 and EUR 430.50.

Drop offs at a different location must be agreed with us in advance. Please contact us if you would like to understand what additional fee will apply to a one-way rental in circumstances where it didn’t form part of your original rental agreement. 

If you did not request a one-way rental but return the vehicle to a different location, you will be charged a one-way fee at the ‘pay at location’ prices available on the day you return the vehicle and additional charges can be applied.

CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS POLICIES

We do not accept Visa Electron cards, Maestro cards, V-Pay cards, Cirrus cards, JCB cards, AMERICAN EXPRESS card or any other cards not listed above.
Prepaid cards can only be used for making payments at the end of your rental.

Debit Card Policies
Debit cards are accepted only if the debit card can be used for pre-authorisation before we release the vehicle to you and are not accepted at the airport location.

Car seats
We offer child and booster seat.

The fee for renting a seat is EUR 11.07 per day, maximum EUR 61.50. 

If the seat or booster is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement.

Entry is permitted to EFTA countries (Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland), the United Kingdom and the European Union, with the exception of Bulgaria and Romania. Entry to Bulgaria and Romania is expressly prohibited. The expressly prohibited countries include, among others, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Vehicles only have a Slovak highway stamp, all other highway fees must be paid for by the client.

Cross-border fee EUR 24.60 is applied (outside Slovakia). 

Please note that if you are permitted to take the vehicle outside of Slovakia, it is your responsibility to make sure you comply with legal requirements applicable in the relevant country/countries you travel in.
